Circle of Security Parenting (CoSP)

Circle of Security is an evidence-based program with decades of research into how parent-child relationships can be nurtured and strengthened via secure attachment. CoSP is a relationship based eight-week reflective course; it won’t teach you how to parent - you’ve already got that covered - it will teach you a framework for how to develop, nurture and strengthen secure attachment.

When a child experiences secure attachment they feel a deep emotional bond with their parent, knowing they’re dependable and someone who is consistently responsive to their needs. This helps the child feel safe and secure, and allows the parent to become the “safe base” from which the child can explore the world and build independence as they grow.

You will learn to:

  • Deepen your self-awareness as a parent

  • Honour your innate parenting wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional cues and needs

  • Support your child’s ability to manage their emotions

  • Build a warmer and more nurturing relationship

  • Enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem.

What to expect:

The course runs over eight weeks lead by me, with a small group of parents. I aim to create safe and inclusive groups where you can show up as you are, reflect on your parenting style, challenges and strengths in the company of other parents who get it.sa Each weekly session includes:

  • Video content

  • Group discussion (note that how much you share is up to you, and always opt-in)

  • Individual reflection exercises.

About me:

In addition to my training as a CoSP facilitator, I have completed this course as a parent myself and work as a Leadership Coach and HR Consultant, and as a volunteer primary school Ethics Teacher. You can read more about me here. I also have strong reflective personal practices and experience guiding others through reflective practises to develop their self-awareness so they can show up more intentionally.

Group options:

I offer online and in-person groups that are either for single mums, or open groups available to individuals and couples. An online group is a great option if you’d like the ease of doing the course from the comfort of your home, or are unable to commit to an in-person group. The in-person group works best for those located within 30 minutes of the inner city suburbs of Sydney.

Whether your child(ren) live with you 100% of the time, or you share care with the other parent, learning about how parent-child attachment works via can be helpful and comforting. Single mums face unique parenting challenges, so with this group I aim to create a safe and nurturing environment that enables you to show up as you are, feel supported, seen and connected to other single mamas.

The course content is exactly the same as the open group.
